NEVER NORMAL SOUNDSYSTEM's broadcast is a celebration of Black future featuring artists who are a part of Never Normal Records 1st cassette archive called NYOTA IMARA, released recently, spanning sounds from hyper pop to jungle, footwork and more. The live event is presented by NEW WORLD DYSORDER, and brought to you by We Are The Ones We’ve Been Waiting For (@wearetheoneswevebeenwaitingfor) & STARR NYC - the street activist organization founded in 1970 by Sylvia Rivera & Marsha P. Johnson. In “Tropical Modernism in Isaleko” a 3D art installation by Ihu Anyanwu a.k.a G.rizo, she meditates and roams about Nigeria's 1st skyline - the surviving and also defunct tropical modernist architecture of Nigeria’s post-independence, on Lagos Island or “Isaleko.” Today most of the skyscrapers are abandoned and dilapidated, standing in the sky like concrete ghosts of a lost vision. Using Detroit techno as a sonic base, layered with local sights and sounds, a link is proposed between 2 major cities within the Pan African landscape. Another Planet has been discovered in the Multiverse. On June 18, warp to the Sentient.Art.Film (@sentient.art.film) Planet during COMMON: A Moment In Between to find a series of films curated by Artistic Director Keisha Knight. Through the Night with Sentient.Art.Film will feature films from their catalog as well as from their Omnibus and My Sight is Lined With Visions programs.⠀ Subsume is an Atlanta, GA based transmedia platform company for diverse storytelling through marginalized voices. Founded in 2018, by writer and game developer Dedren Snead, they develop inclusive content in print, animation, and digital media for a worldwide audience.  SUBSUME Media is hosting SUBSUME SUMMIT - a three day long celebration of pop culture, creativity and technological innovation, held in conjunction with the Juneteenth holiday. Octavia Butler’s influence runs deep in these Kindred Spirits: Indy Nyles (@indy_nyles), Titonton (@tduvante), Monty Luke (@monty_luke), and Shawn Dub (@shawndub365). They’ve combined their energies to manifest the Kindred Spirits Planets within the Interstitium, creating four DJ sets that outline the influence that Butler’s work has had on their artistic practice. The lineup is curated by Miguel Senquiz (@htmiguel) and features his live visuals throughout.
The rare alignment of timeless portals and ephemeral planets in COMMON is causing a rift in space-time.⠀ ⠀ For this first time ever, be sure to tune in for Temporal Fluctuation, an archive planet dedicated to restreaming interstellar sets from the Currents community in past COMMONs.⠀ Telebonga will feature live conversations with guerilla theorists, academics, and artists from throughout the multiverse as well as a listening party for interviews with some of the most influential Afrofuturists of our space-time continuum.  Telebonga’s discussions include The Afro Now, Dreaming Live, H.A.I.R, Tropical Conversation in Isaleko. Vibe with artists from a place of the cool waters, also known as Nairobi, with an art project showcase by Kraal Heritage - Art In Isolation, at the Nairobi National Museum, poetic videos from Intersect and live music from DJs at Muringa and Santuri East Africa studios.⠀ The COMMON Room showcases the broad diversity of our Currents and Worldwide communities.
